Surgery

Sooo, as most of you know, I had rotator cuff surgery January 31st and have just started physical therapy. Surgery went well and I can finally lay flat! (well not really flat since it hurts, but 2 pillows instead of 8) PT is pretty crappy right now due to the pain they put me through, but no pain no gain right?! It's amazing what I cannot do anymore... to put it clearly I am a total wuss now and can barely raise or straighten my arm. (Hey! you try wearing a sling for 8 weeks day and night!) My mondays and wednesdays are now dedicated to Ms Allison (my therapist) along with home exercises 3 times a day. 2 months of this should fix me. I'm also going through some withdrawals of pain meds which also sucks. But I won't get into that..
So, for those that don't know, I was in a snowboarding accident in January. Micah accidently ran into me. I was on my hands and knees looking up the mountain waiting for Micah and some friends to catch up when all of a sudden I see Micah coming towards me. Thinking at any minute he would TURN and not hit me, I stayed still and out of the way of other skiers. As he came closer and closer I started to wonder, but still thought my new husband would never hit his wonderful new wife right?! OR was this his way of proving "through good times and bad, through sickness and health"? I ducked my face just in time for his 6'6" 220 lb body attached to a 6' snowboard going 40 miles an hour down a steep mountain to hit poor little me. Luckily I ducked or I may not be recognizable anymore. He hit me in the shoulder and hip which did nothing to my hip but bruise it. My shoulder, on the other hand, was dislocated and torn up.

So, what did you do, you say? Well after falling face down in the snow thinking I was dead, Micah and some friends shook me and I then knew I was ALIVE! So, I sat up, put my arm back in place, took some deep breathes and went on my way with tears in my eyes (but I couldn't let people see my cry of course!). The day was halfway over thank goodness cause I could barely move it.After about a week of Micah telling me to "just rub some mud on it and it will get better" I went to the doctor and found out I needed surgery.
Lesson to learn from this: NEVER ski with Micah BEHIND you! Love you MK!

A before pic--sorry I don't have an after pic--just didn't feel up to it. I don't know why?
